Hiramaya works as a toilet cleaner in Tokyo, and is content with his simple, solitary life. His days usual follow a predictable pattern, with small rituals helping him to feel safe. However, sometimes the past comes back to us when we least expect it – so as a late night encounter disrupts the balance of Hiramaya’s life he needs to confront what he has worked so hard to hide. We learn that when we are caught up in life’s daily grind, it is easy to overlook the simple joys around us, and the moments that give life meaning.
